No-exam life insurance
Which applicants qualify for accelerated approval, how the process works, and what to expect if you don't.
Carriers have expanded accelerated underwriting programs: for applicants in certain age brackets seeking coverage up to program limits, they render decisions based on your answers, prescription records, motor vehicle history, and other data—no medical exam required. Approval turnarounds can be swift. Your quotes indicate whether each product requires an exam, might require one, or doesn't.
What it changes
Skipping an exam doesn't skip medical underwriting. Your answers are checked, and a policy built on false claims can be challenged in its first two years. The carrier may still request tests or an exam if something warrants follow-up; you decide whether to proceed.
Who tends to qualify
Usually applicants under 60-ish buying coverage within the carrier's accelerated program limits, with no serious health conditions and no tobacco use for a year or longer. If your doctor did recent bloodwork, some carriers will accept those results instead of another exam.
When an exam is needed, expect a 20-30 minute appointment at your West Hollywood home or workplace, handled by a paramedic and covered by the carrier. For healthy people, results often lead to better rates, making the process a positive step.
